सत्यम् ब्रूयात् VERSUS निंदक नियारे राखिये

In my opinion, the sanskrit quote given below has caused a great internal damage to values of vedic religion. Sycreticism and Dichotomy has become an idiosyncratic feature of Hinduism , something which the BJP and the RSS seem to be excelling in. -
सत्यम ब्रूयात् प्रियम् ब्रूयात्, न ब्रूयात् सत्यम अप्रियम् |
प्रियम् च नानृताम्ब्रुयात्, एष: धर्म सनातनः ||
(meaning)
सत्य बोलो , प्रिय बोलो |
अप्रिय मत बोलो, अगर वह सत्य हो तो भी | प्रिय और सत्य बोलना ही सनातन धर्म है

I keep wondering that if the truth be spoken at the mercy of the listener's pleasure and convenience, then, of what value is that religion which yet teaches us the motto of सत्यम शिवम् सुंदरम ?

Whereas a sanskrit shlok सत्यम ब्रूयात् teaches us to not to speak too much critical of someone, the below kabir das ji's doha teaches us to learn to tolerate even the harshest of our critic.

कबीर के दोहे:

निंदक नियरे राखिए, ऑंगन कुटी छवाय।
बिन पानी, साबुन बिना, निर्मल करे सुभाय।।

अर्थ:
कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि व्यक्ति को सदा चापलूसों से दूरी और अपनी निंदा करने वालों को अपने पास ही रखना चाहिए, क्यूंकि निंदा सुन कर ही हमारे अन्दर स्वयं को निर्मल करने का विचार आसकता है और यह निर्मलता पाने के लिए साबुन और पानी कि कोई आवश्यकता नहीं होती है ।
