हिटलर ने द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध के दौरान अपनी फौजों को आदेश दिया था कि कोई भी शत्रु जिंदा नहीं छोड़ा जाएगा। बूझिये क्या सोच कर हिटलर ने ऐसा आदेश दिया होगा? चंगेज खान, तैमूर लंग, बाबर ये जितने भी बड़े नामचीम ऐतिहासिक विश्वविजेता रहे है, ये सब के सब बेहद क्रूर हुआ करते थे , यहां तक कि आक्रमण के दौरा स्त्रियों और छोटे बच्चों को भी नहीं बख़शते थे, जिंदा नहीं छोड़ते थे। फिर से वही सवाल, –बूझिये क्यों? अंग्रेजी में कहावत है, dead men tell no tales , यानी मुर्दा आदमी कोई कहानी नहीं सुनाता है। कुछ समझ आई hint? ये , कि सांप के बच्चे को अगर जिंदा छोड़ दिया गया तो वह कल को बड़ा हो कर बदला लेगा अपने माँबाप का, और जब आप बूढ़े हो चुके होंगे ! पहले के ज़माने में सोच कुछ ऐसी हुआ करती थी, जिसके चलते अच्छे, सफल आक्रमणकारी को क्रूर और बर्बर होना जरूरी था। अब यहां से एक बात निकलती है सोचने वाली – कि, इतिहास क्यों लिखना जरूरी है किसी भी समाज को, और किसी भी समाज को अपना इतिहास क्यों जरूरी है पढ़ना और जानना। सोचिए और बताइए।
